    ducktail hood shocks

Any special shocks required for an original steel frame/fiberglass ducktail or will the standard decklid shocks be adequate?

Regarding the question about engine lid supports, there have been three different supports available over the years. The force noted on the barrel of the support easily identifies each.

The standard support (P/N 911.512.331.01) is marked as “370N” (370 Newtons) which equates to 83 pounds-force. Some supports (usually older ones) are marked as “37 Kp” (37 kilopond) which equals 37 kilogram-force or about 83 pounds-force.

There is (or at least was) a support available for the aluminum engine lid (P/N 911.512.331.00) marked as “220N” equal to 50 pounds-force. This support may also be labeled with a “22Kp” marking.

Finally, the heavier, whale-tail lids are equipped with a higher force unit (P/N 911.512.331.02), marked as “600N” or 135 pounds-force.

My car is currently equipped with the standard 370N support and it works fine with the standard steel framed ducktail
