Thread: Dash Repaint

    Dash Repaint

Contemplating repainting the dash, probably using Wurth black semi gloss. Can I do a creditable job without pulling the seats, carpets, etc? By that I mean can I sand,
prepare the surface, prime etc in the limited space available without getting paint all over the place? Looks like it would be fairly easy to botch this job.
Anyone have any slick ideas for how to mask off the headliner and rest of the interior while doing this? Any other tips/lessons learned? Thanks,

I didn't this winter and used the same paint your contemplating. I just did a lot of masking off and it came out fine. I used a shop vac while I was painting, and a regular window box fan in the passenger side to exhaust the paint. Took quite a few hours to get the things sanded down properly need to remove the steering wheel and the clamshell which I also repainted with the same paint looks pretty good.

Somehow I thought it was Wurth Satin?

Satin sounds correct. I used SEM trim paint.

Yes, meant to say Wurth Satin. Curious about the fan and shop vac. Did those help control unwanted mist flying around?

Get Abigail tyvek drop cloth and cover the whole seating and carpet area, you can probably tape another around the roof. I assume you are taking the windshield and dash out. Don't forget your inside door panels.

Be sure to pull instruments and mask behind dash to keep from painting all the wires!
