    1966 coupe steering column 'play'

Hello: this is a question for any of the steering column experts...

My car (1966 coupe) came with a Raid Racemark wheel and hub. I wanted to replace with a patinated Momo Prototipo and bought one through the Board (thanks Mark)... I am using a Momo hub adapter that I bought from Pelican (MO-0230) which states that it is suitable for cars up to 7/73.

However, there is a considerable difference in the hub adapters: the Raid one has a washer with a spring that appears to hold the column under some tension whereas the Momo one is unencumbered by any such device.

Hence the 'play' in the column when fitted.

Any ideas on how to remedy this would be much appreciated!

You have to transfer the spring and cup to your next wheel, or buy another set. 99.9% of the loose wheel causes are from not transferring those pieces over.

Thanks Ed, I had hoped it was something as simple as this, but didn't want to destroy the Raid hub in the process.
