    915 short shift kit revisited

I have a 72 work-in-progress with a 915 and thinking about an install. The car will be for spirited street driving only. I read the earlier thread on the 901-915 controversy and would prefer factory over aftermarket. So my question is about the "factory 915 kit". Is this the one available from Stoddard (911 424 931 00)?

I may be alone but I don't like them one bit. The WEVO's and others may be alright but the factory piece puts a lot of added effort into shifting. YMMV.

    Just my 2 cents.

The Weltmiester is no good, but the factory one works very well if properly done. Mine shifts like butter.

Change all bushings and good adjustment.
You should be able to move the shifter with three fingers.

It's all about physics. I've had these types of shifters in a variety of cars. If you make the lever shorter it takes more force to move things. Basic high school physics. This all started with drag racers. I'm not sure you need it for road racing. I definitely know you don't need it for the street. Wanting it is a totally different thing.
