    Restoration Shop Near Philadelphia

Has anyone heard of or had any experience with http://www.rs-werks.com/

I talked to the owner today and he seems eager and passionate, also his prices seem reasonable compared to other quotes I've received.

RS Werks is in Delaware about 45 minutes outside Philadelphia.

I'm looking to concours restore my 1972 911T Targa

I'm located in New Orleans and would ship my car away and only be able check on it in person once or twice so reputation is important to me.

    Thank you,
    Ben

Ben, what a small world sometimes...Scott at RS-Werks is a totally stand up, honest, hard working, experienced Porsche mechanic, builder and customizer. I'm in San Diego and just returned last night from a trip across the country to see my build, (an RS backdate), in person for the first time at Scott's business. It's more beautiful than I could have expected and is about 3 weeks from completion. As this is my first 911, I would not try to fake that I'm experienced in knowing all that is required to know wether a concourse job has been done or not. However, I know for sure that Scott is completely trustworthy and one of the nicest guys you could ever meet. He has been doing what everyone now knows MW for, for the last 25+ years. Interestingly too, the guy who turned me onto Scott at RS-Werks months ago also lives in New Orleans. Scott is currently building him an ST project.

If you want more detail feel free to email me at: obrat12@yahoo.com

Btw, while there visiting my car and the shop, Scott picked me up from and drove me to the airport, and him and his wife generously put me up in his own home. Would an other mechanic do that???

I haven't met him in person but I know he has a very good (long time) rep around here.

Happy to add my positive experience with RS Werks. Scott has done work for me in the past and now is doing 2 restorations for me. 1) 1970 Wide Body RSR style and 2) 1979 Backdate to RS. So far so good, as I have visited the cars several times at the shop (only 3 hrs from NYC). The most amazing part has been the body work using all metal, no filler. The rotisserie restoration my 1970 is getting is terrific, stripped to metal, any rust eradicated, welded, metal work done, smoothed and then recovered for long term protection. The suspension set up is coming along very nicely as well, with NOS and upgraded items where appropriate (sometimes new is just simply better).

I can say that he is a very nice person, easy to work with, and honest. He is not killing the budget like other restorers...trust me, I researched several places. He is a crazy Porsche guy which makes the entire experience fun.

Best of luck with your decision, lots of options and places to turn, but Scott at RS Werks should definitely be on your short list.

Scott is honest, hard working and he does excellent work. Don't get wrapped around the axle with the local knuckleheads - if you want it done properly and at a fair value call him!

Ben, I have not had any experience with RS-Werks, but I did have a significant amount of work done with Chris Radbill, who is also in the philly area. Happy to direct you to him if you want any other opinions.
