    Separating 118 lens from reflector

This may be old news but is new to me. I wanted to pass on a tip to those who want to restore their 118 TTG driving light reflectors but have the later units where the glass lens is epoxied to the reflector. Having tried to break the bond by heating in an oven I managed to destroy two good lenses while trying to take them apart. I recently found an epoxy solvent on line and decided to give it a try. I let the glass/metal assembly soak in this stuff for a few days and presto, a little gentle prying and the bond was broken. Sure wish I knew about this stuff last year.

Skip, did the solvent destroy the silver on the reflector?

It did remove some of the silvering. In my case the reflector needed restoration and the chrome shop would remove the existing silvering in the process of preparing the reflector for the new reflective finish so it wasnt a problem
