    Oil Pressure Spec

I've searched but can't seem to find the answer to this question. What is the rule of thumb for calculating "healthy" oil pressure in a 2.4 T engine with MFI? I think I recall reading somewhere that it should be approximately 20 psi for every 1000 rpm. I recently had the leaking pressure sending unit replaced along with an oil change. The oil level is good, however the pressure gauge now reads 140 psi at 4,000 rpm with the new sending unit installed. Prior to installing the new sending unit, the gauge used to read approximately 80 psi at 4,000 rpm.

Is 140 @4,000 too high? What would be causing this? What should it be reading?
    Cheers!

10 psi for every 1,000 RPM at 190 degrees or thereabouts. Yes, 140 at 4000 is too high. Sounds like mismatched sender and gauge.,,,,,or you have a really stuck relief valve.

How about a bad ground or loose ground wire? That could cause crazy high pressure reading.

Hello Frank, can you say what the issue was with the unit you installed?
    Regards,
    Mike
