    Paint tag cleaning

    Any ideas how to remove previous owner's thorough paint job from the paint tag without damage to the tag? Dry ice blasting?

    I used aircraft stripper on one and it did a good job of cleaning it without removing any of the black on the original paint. Not sure if I was lucky. I have also heard of some using citrus stripper.

    JEEZ! I'd cut the edges clean with an Xacto knife; center punch the rivets and drill out. Deal with it on the bench.

    Then find the painter, pull out the Xacto knife and...
