Questions on SWB Bilstein jack renovation

    Hi
I recently acquired a correct Bilstein jack for my car but it needs some TLC to get it back to a good (not concours) condition.
    My questions are:
    (1) what is the correct finish on the shaft? Was it plated at all?
    (2) what is the correct finish on the sprung mechanism?
    (3) is the rubber piece still available - if so, what is the part number?
    (4) what is the safest way to dismantle it?
    (5) Is VW Sea Blue the correct colour for the base?
Thanks in advance for your help...

Stephen, the jack that was in 304523's trunk when I acquired it has both a black mechanism and base. It appears original and not painted and no trace of blue on the base. I'm not sure about the shaft but it appears to be just a mill finish. The rubber is still available at the usual suspects. Here's a sample link: http://www.sierramadrecollection.com...or-p18621.html

To disassemble, remove the snap rings top and bottom and it comes apart easily. The one holding the base is a bit of a bear to get out.

    Hope this helps.
