The picture of Brian's shoulder mount seat belt is for cars delivered in Europe. US cars got seatbelts installed at the dealer that were made by American Safety Equipemnt and had a Porsche crest in them. Completely different than the "factory" seatbelt pictured by Brian.

    Jim-
Did all of the cars get the shoulder belt mount by the factory? My 65 does not have the mount and I don't know if someone replaced the interior panels but didn't cut the holes to access the mount underneath? Thanks for the help as I have not had the interior panels out of the car. ,

Not very many came with 3 point belts until Jan 1968 when they were mandatory. Cars destined for the US came with American made seat belts and were installed at the dealer. Pictures below are the belt most Americans believe were "Factory". Obviously, that is not the case.
The shoulder belt bolted in the the quarter panel and the lap portion of the belt had hooks that attached to eye bolts. The attachment for the shoulder belt changed from a captive nut that was 8mm by 1.25 to a 7/16 SAE captive nut in the 68 year model cars. The lap belts are all attached to the chassis with 7/16 SAE captive nuts.

    Regards

    Jim

My euro 67 delivered in Germany came with Klippan belts. The type that have a u type latch. They were not retractable. Don't have any pics, but they were pretty widely used
