    Re painting SWB

I was wondering if there is any documentation on painting a 1966 SWB it a 912 if it matters.
Did they have the finders doors trunk and deck lid off ?
I was told after 1968 they painted the car with the finders on

Any feedback would be much appericated

    Thanks Doug

Doug, mine is a 68 911 but I was advised to go the whole route and remove all the panels, including fenders. I was glad I did for the peace of mind knowing that the seams were clear, new rubber between the fender and body and no rust around. I removed all the panels myself before it went to the painters for several long months. Lots of work in between and selecting a good paint and body shop is crucial. I went back to the original colour as well. My thread is at: http://www.typ901.org/showthread.php?t=4244

I have everything off now I was just talking with a friend and we were wondering how they did the early cars.
I was under the impression that the LWB cars were painted with the finders on

I was not trying to make a point I plan on painting my 1966 as close to the way they did it. Which I believe was different in the way they did it after 1968.

I was responding to the first part of your question, that you were 'Wondering about any documentation on painting a 1966 SWB. Did they have the fenders doors trunk and deck lid off ?'.

Seems you had already decided that anyway, so I needn't have responded.

I am planning on painting my car the same way you did . I was looking for any written documentation that said that was in fact how they did it and what year they stopped removing the fenders.

Thank you for your thread it a good read
