Ventilation (?) holes in Bosch indicator lenses

    Hi,

Just had a closer look at a few front and rear indicator lenses I have and noticed these strange (to me) small holes near the screw holes. Seems like original and not some DIY job, guess the were for some kind of ventilation, am I right? In what year was this used? Never seen them in the later model lenses. I have another silver lined lens with the same Bosch numbers but no holes. Please shine a light

    Kind regards,

    Cees

pretty sure this is home made.

tooling for such holes would have been a nightmare.
and why should they drill holes after painting the amber area?
the last pic shows without a doubt this was drilled.
