    Urgent!

Can someone please explain in idiot terms how to post a GIF? This looks like a worthwhile tool to improve comedic prowess.

I believe you have to have the URL of the gif If mac try double clicking on the gif and select save address You would then enter this url in the image or movie button in the reply bar If from image you would click from url. That should work but I have not done it on this site

Be very careful using the URL of a gif hosted on a third-party site. All the site owners have to do is upload a new image under the same location and you'll find your previously posted image has changed and usually in a less-than-nice way. A favorite pastime of some webmasters whose images are used without permission.

Besides. Isn't posting an animated gif the same process as posting any image on these forums?

Yikes. That could be rather embarrassing.

I think I know what I'm doing wrong; file is too large. Those 1 1/2 sec long GIFs are laaaame.

Then upload it to a free image hosting site and use the From URL option (as opposed to the From Computer option) when posting the image here.

Will photo bucket work? I know you have to have the url to make it work. It can't be from computer.

Yes, photobucket (and 100+ other free image hosting sites will work fine).

The "From Computer" option will also work fine (as it did for the Beatles gif I posted). You only need to use the "From URL" option when your file size exceeds 100mb. That's for any file including jpg images and has nothing to do with the fact that you're posting an animated gif. The upload tool does not differentiate.
