911S Torsion Bar Creaking

I have a 77' Porsche 911S Turbo. When underway the torsion bar is making a popping/creaking sound. It seems to be coming from the bracket towards the front of the torsion bar, past the wishbone.
Have any ideas on what it is or how to fix it??

Try this...
Performance Products sales a pure silicone lubricant for there Weltmeister products. Put some in a plastic syringe and squeeze it into all the little spaces between bushings, bars, and clamps.

I have a few less squeeks by doing this ... may be it'll help yours

Front TB bushings could be worn out, too.

Hi Guys,

My 73 RS -E sounds like an old bed going down the road. Everything is squeeking up front. I'll try the silicone you suggest Chuck. I've also learned that the eurathane bushings that were the talk of the town years ago are the culprit. Tony (my mechanic) has suggested a set of bushings made up North somewhere that fit together very well, and eliminate this annoying sound. I'll check with him today and repost later.

Does anyone have any other ideas?

My 70-S had this problem and was the TB bushings. They had been replaced with the urethane type. The car creaked and the body resonated the creaking. I don't know that I'd use them again unless somebody has come up with a better mousetrap.

There is an outfit, Smart Racing, that manufactures a eurethane bushing that my mechanic swears by. I ordered a set today. $15 ea plus shipping and tax. probably $75 for the 4 up front. They are careful to explain that every condition is a little different, and that custom fitting is key. I'll be able to report on the installation in a few weeks once they arrive and I have them installed. Having read through their site I am convinced that sanding them to proper size so they fit together properly before you bolt everything back together is the magic key.

Looking forward to a quiet front end once again.
