    '73 S Resto Update:

    All,

It's been a while since I posted an update on my car. The project is now 11 months and counting, my wife got pregnant, had our third kid (now 3mos old) and the car is still not done.

However, the actual work done is pretty good (so far). The body went bare metal, fenders off, back to where it is now. All mechanicals are done (total engine rebuild, 2.2S pistons, Elgin Mod-S cam, machined for twin plugs in the future), total tranny rebuild, new gears, synchros, bushings, etc..., all new suspension components, all new brake set up (new MC, rebuilt S calipers, Zimmerman cross/vented rotors). Early Sixes! All new interior (two problems - '74OE dash, speaker holes in the door panels - long story but wanted to point it out before someone else does, it was a compromise). Glass is all OE except Windshield.

Now we are into sorting wiring (all redone - gawd what a nightmare). Had them pull turn signal lenses as one was cracked and quality was poor, have to touch up some paint as the car has gotten a few scratches being pushed around the shop since it was painted in JUNE!

Anyway, thanks for the continued support, advise, and words of encouragement.

The person in my house who has asked daily for almost a year, two key questions:
1 - Is your Porsche done yet?
2 - Is your Porsche faster than ......... (usually pointing at a matchbox car)? (to which the answer is most certainly - "of course" )

I think he's more excited than I am.

Whew, thats enough (have 100 more).

OK, comments either way are welcome. If you see stuff that doesn't look right, SHOUT IT OUT!!!

Reminder - my first restoration, went in totally naive and un-educated. This bboard is my teacher and concience.

    Thanks guys, soon grasshopper, soon.

Cris H - hope the offer for coffee is still open. I've been putting it off till I can bring my car for your perusal. Hoping the few non-OE upgrades qualify for R status.

    Wonderful pics.

Have always loved silver - from day one. My only regret is not finding one.

The pic with your son grinning is pricesless. My wife and I love it.
