Parcel tray-package tray, what do you call it?

I recently picked up a parcel tray cover that looks just like the '74. The seller says it fits the '72-3 as well. My '71 has a separate lip piece that screws on from the rear window side and fits on brackets that extend thru the tray piece. The one I bought has an intregal lip (all one piece). Is this the same as '72? In any case, it won't work in my '71.

So, is the '72 and later a one piece deal?

I guess I'm not making myself very clear. Does your '72> have a separate piece that attaches here?

Thanks for the pic, Milt...now I think I gotcha! My car has a piece that looks like the tan piece in your second pic. It's one solid piece across the width of the car. I've never had it out, so I don't have a clue how it's fastened.

I was at Willhoit 356 Restoration's open house today in Long Beach and a number of early 911's showed up as well as two inside undergoing some type of work. I was able to ascertain that the '71< cars have a separate piece that clamps down over the shelf a the bend. The '72> is one piece.

I'm surprised a lot of people didn't know this. I'm not saying that as criticism, it's a hard thing to spot.

I wet down my fiberboard yesterday and put about 50 bricks on it to hold it down. It's flat enough now to make a pattern.

Good luck, Milt...and I think we all just learned a bit about a design change...
