"Not a factory piece" starts off the description. Looks like someone spent alot of time trying to get it right. Would have liked to see this on a car even though it is on a steel frame. Here ya go:

    hmmm

Not trying to be Johnny Raincloud here but my eyes tell me that it is NOT an "exact duplicate".

It looks incredibly nicely done -

The angles look off to me - it's not exact period - anyone else agree????

My guess is the Fryardds probably has good eyes as well - whatchya think Brian?

Wow, that is an amazing part. I can't imagine the hours that must have gone into making that.

    Alex,

I can't really tell in the photos if there are angles that are off or not. It looks very sharp at the edges, more than the FG ones, but that may just be the way the metal looks in the photos. Why don't you buy it and put it next to the factory part you already have?

    BTW,
When I was at the Taj Garage event, one of midwest guys who brought his '73 Carrera RS, said he has a Factory made all aluminum Ducktail. I questioned whether it was an original part and he swore that it was made as a prototype part before they decided to go with FG. I have never seen this mentioned anywhere else, but would love to see it some time just for kicks.

    ...

    It's an absolutely wonderful piece!

The area that immediately stuck out to me is where the ducktail portion meets the lid.
In the real RS tail there is more of a taper into the decklid
In this lid it comes down a little straighter
Overall it makes it look like the ducktail portion is longer in relation to the flat lid aft of it.
The opposite being true on the real duck - the lid aft of the tail looks longer than the vertical height of the tail.
I know our eyes work in tenths of a millimeter, Brian - bad habit.
Would I buy it?? Heck yeah!

I wish I could fabricate as good as this. Plus saving weight and knowing I made it myself, best of all worlds. Hats off to this guy he did a great job and I am sure if it were next to a factory piece one could see differences. Just like some of those chopper shows, in your head it looks simple until you come face to face with an english wheel. Watch those fingers!
