High / Low Beam Headlight Problem

Last night, both the high and low beam headlights stayed on when the headlights were turned on. The only way I found to maintain low beams was to slightly pull and hold the lever - the high beams went off . Release, and both are back on. Turn signal on and everything is normal (high beams off). Once turn signal disengages, back to both high + low. Flick to high beams, and everything is fine - low beams off. Any simple solution? Is switch readily available? (73 911 E/RS)

I've managed to solve this problem in the past by removing the switch from the column & cleaning the contacts - then checking the action & bending the spring contact as necessary before refitting the switch.

Eventually you will need to replace the switch though...

Are you running higher wattage bulbs than original ? If so, have you installed additional relays to protect the switch ?

Its the switch, but check the relay for the high beams under the cowl.

Thanks for the help. Ordered a new switch and will definately check the relay.
