    Question Left/Right Wiper arms

are the wiper arms for left/right side the same?

are left sitting and right sitting arms the same?

what makes them left or right sitting (which drive side the car is?)

To the best of my knowledge...
    1) No
    2) Yes - sortof - very early cars came right sitting, and they were silver (my 66 car). Sometime in late 66 / early 67, they painted them black and kept them on the right (both my old 67's). Around the time that Porsche went from green to black instruments (901/05 to 901/06 engine) in the 67 model year, they parked the wipers on the left.
    3) I have read that the wiper motor can be adjusted to park them on either side, but I have not tried it yet. There are advantages and disadvantages to having them on either side. I prefer them on the left for two reasons: a) They help keep the rain from streaking up the windshield and b) more importantly, the y more quickly wipe the windshield area in front of the driver.

I recently made the swap from left-resting to right-resting wiper arms. It takes longer to access the wiper motor lever than to perform the actual modification.

When performing the modification, the wiper arms are swapped. The new top-most wiper arm must be manually bent in the opposite direction so its blade remains parallel with the lower windshield trim. A few minutes on the bench vise makes quick work of the needed bend. Some black touch up paint may also be needed.

    Hope this helps,
    Sherwood
