Thread: RS Door Panel; Strap Door Opener

  1. #1

Question RS Door Panel; Strap Door Opener

Anyone know how to attach the end of the strap, that is part of the RS Door panel, to the door opener mechanisim? I am converting my door panels to the RS panels and not sure how to connect the end of the strap to the door opener mechanism. Any help would be appreciated. It is difficult to get to the mechanism to see what the connection looks like. I did disconnect the rod already. Now I just need to figure out how to attach the end of the strap. Thanks. Craig

Any recommendations on who makes nice repro door panels? Or are they all about the same since they are dead simple to make?

    Grandma

    Hi Doc,
are we speaking of the same Grandma, white 911 T,sunroof, red leather interior and raced in the 1989 LeCarrera Classic finishing 4th overall ?
I would have to dig deep to find the video tapes of the car and the event but I bet I find some picture of it.....

lkadams -- I can tell you that there is cheap vinyl and there is quality vinyl. Of course, leather would be a LOT better. You can get a raw panel with cutouts already in it form appbiz and get a good elather shop to put osme quality leather on it.

    That won't be real cheap...

That "cheap look" is part of the correctness - especially the Fiat door pull handle (cheap=lightweight). I ordered mine thru Performance Products (not sure who actually made them. I had to trim (and re-wrap) some panel edges since they did not fit to my satisfaction. Fit is not only visually important, but also effects proper door closure.

Oh yeah... get some extra handles - especially if you have strong door hinge detents. They're not much stonger than they look.
