    7 R Fuchs

What was the application for these wheels besides the R, where they used on the front and rear.

6R Fuchs were used for the front, 7R for the rear.

    Phil,

The reason for the "cool" 7R wheels from the 67 911R is to fit a 7" rim under the narrow fendered early cars; the offset needs to have more backspacing than the later 7 inch rims of the Carrera and SCs. Therefore, a deep six and a deep 7 (looks the same as a deep six with more back space) is the widest wheel combo one can obtain on a SWB car. These wheels have a very different look on the rim versus the later 7x15 wheel.

    cheers,
    Michael

They do look awesome, but for a lwb you can fit a standard 7 x 15 fuchs on the rear. I know the R wheels are a good fit for standard fendered 914's as well.

You'll be repainting your rear fenders after that experiment! Early sixes can be widened to the inside, just like the R for quite a bit less money than the real ones.

    I run standard 7x15's with 205 x 60 x15's front & rear on my '73 S, no rubbing problems.

They had 215s 60s on the 73 I had and it blistered the paint.

My point is just that you can't run any larger tire with a late 7, sure the wheel works. You can get a 225 under the rear of an early car with an R 7 wheel.
