Thread: S calipers

    S calipers

Most of the S calipers I've seen have had the plain aluminum silver finish. I have a pair that has more of a light gold or cad finish that appears to be original. Anyone know if this is the original finish and if so what year's they came on?

    Thanks, John

Just guesswork here, but the VERY early Turbos used the same brakes as the "S". Don't remember the color used...where did you get these brakes? I've seen pics of "resored" cars that have wayyy more gold colored parts than the factory ever did.

Paul, They were on the irish green 71S I got back in April (see "The Ghost"). They could very well be original to the car but I don't know. The car is slowly coming back to life. I took the stripped down shell to the paint shop about a month ago. I need to see more pictures of your car to keep me inspired.

The originals on my car were silver.... I replaced those with what I was told were '75/'76-S alloys that were a goldish-green...

BTW - Those are now stored and good old SC iron brakes have replaced'm...

    Cheers,

Will SC brakes work without modification? 3.5 bolt spacing?

Yes the spacing is the same ... fluid plumbing is a little different

SC pads are thinner but the same surface area...

Bottom line is SC brakes do not flex ... and are cheep, plentiful, and a bolt-on

    Hope this helps.

Those are what mine looked like just before I sent them to White Post this week. Getting a redo with stainless pistons.
