    fuchs archaeology needed

    I have a very early 911 E (# 21) I pulled off wheels today to check part #'s. Interesting one wheel has part # cast for 15 x 5 1/2 part # and 5 1/2J x 15 size but also has in rubber stamp a part # for the deep dish 6 and a 6J x 15 stamp. The date stamp is 6/68 do these must be some of the very first 6 x 15 ever made. I can find the fuchs fox anywhere. The other wheel has had part #'s ground off and rubber stamp marks are barely visible. I think I saw and earlier post from Harvey where he talked about this. Anyone ever seen wheels marked this way.

    Yes.

    I have 6x15 Deep with the 5.5 part number. Harvey said they are very common, as far as early deep six wheels are concerned. 2 of the 4 I have are missing some of the numbers as well. 2 don't have the Fox, one has the stamp. He also said the numbers were removed when the wheels were being cleaned up after casting. Its all a big mystery. I have one late no heart I am trying to swap for an early.

    I'm curious does anyone know when they started making the the 6's what is the earliest date stamp anyone has seen on these.

    The 911R 6x15 rims I had were dated 11/67

    Production of the '69 cars would have started August '68, so a June stamp on parts would be consistent for an early '69 car.
