    Engine serial # question

I bought a complete, running '69 911T engine for my '68 project and am wondering about the serial numbers on the engine.

On the support by the alternator it has 6193358, which translates to a '69 911T. However, at the left front of the block next to the breather it has 6410168 stamped on it. Does anyone know what this would signify?

Do the two 3-digit numbers at the top of the case halves match? It sounds to me like you may have a case that is one half 914-6 and one half 69'T.

The 914/6 cases had their serial number stamped in the location you describe. The number looks like it may correlate to a 71' 914/6.

I've always considered the glass to be half full...that is until I reached middle age and realized that it is actually half empty.
