    Shrieking Sound When Motor is Cold

    After starting a completely cold car and in the process of driving it a quarter of a mile or so, a shriek is heard from the engine area. This happens on both my old and new motors. Is it a slipping belt which warms and then stops? Cold MFI?

    Sounds like a belt to me. Check the tension. You may have a bearing worn past limits and squiling util it gets full lubrication but let's hope for the belt.
