Gaskets on CV joints on a '68 911?

I disassembled and greased the CV joints tonight and will be installing the axles tomorrow. The CV boot kit that came with the car has four gaskets for the CV to flange seal. Should I use these?

There's a thread on Pelican that states the SWB cars did not use the gaskets- they just leaked.

What do you guys think on this one?

I recently "rebuilt" my CV axles and didn't use gaskets. I tried to order them but the joints don't use them as you mention. Since you're memory is fresh can you remind me if the stop washers bend towards the inside of the car or the outside of the car?

    CV joint stop washers

Thanks for your reply. I wonder if using the gaskets I have would help prevent the grease from leaking?

The stop washers cupped area go towards the CV joint on each side of the axle.

So the outer CV joint washer would be facing the wheel flange and the inside CV washer would be facing the gearbox flange. Is this how you did it?
