Perplexing head - MFI in a 67 code head?

Explain this one to me; how does a 10-67 head have an MFI injector hole in it? I realize these can be machined in later, but look at the raised surface that runs parallel to the injector. This head looks to me like it was manufactured that way. If production cars had MFI come in on late '68 coded heads (1969 model year), what is this? It is a 2 liter head with small valves by visual inspection. Part number is 901.104.303.0R and searches here and on Pelican turned up nothing...

This got me looking at BAs book; I didn't realize that the '68 cars had a cam drive for a smog pump. Very interesting. Glad I'm not trying to concours restore one of those!

    Thanks to you all!

Smog pump ran off the left bank camshaft on 68 cars. I have one of these engines in my garage.
