How long can engine be static?

I am refreshing my 69S engine. I have the heads and cam towers off. Recently I have started to worrying about letting the pistons/cyc sit in the same position for so long. I started this project last November but it is taking a long time waiting for ordered parts to arrive. Should I worry about rust or pistons/cyc rusting together? I read somewhere that an engine should turnover at least one complete revolution every 3 months to prevent damage.

If you want to exercise the engine, secure the cylinders in place, then rotate the crank on occasion. However, if parts are coated in engine oil, there shouldn't be a problem.

Hey Don, want to trade your '69S heads for some 2.2 heads and cash?

How much cash? Why are 2.0 heads worth 2.2 heads plus cash? Also, my mechanic has told me that on a 69 the heads and cyclinders have surfaces that mate together which are unlike any other year b/c there is a raised area on the cyclinder and a matching recess on the head. He says other years don't have this.

2.0S heads have some additional value since 1969 is the cutoff for vintage racers. They can't use 2.2 heads legally, so they are more desirable to some folks. I need them because my car has non MFI heads and I need these correct haads to install my MFI and make my car correct. Let me do some more research and get back to you.
