    Porsche Sale Gone Bad

I'm wondering if others have had a similiar experience. In a nut shell I sold a Porsche 944 turbo to a guy in NYC. Car has 1300 miles, literally brand new. He asks for pictures & verbal description. No PPI or discussion with my mechanic. We agree on price, funds sent, car put on trailer etc.

Now the buyer is saying there are issues. I had car detailed at Porsche dealership the week the car was shipped. He is claiming the wheels were totally damaged while being detailed. They looked beautiful to me. Now he wants $4k in order to "correct" issues.

I offered him $500 to help correct the one issue that we discussed during the sales process. He left a volatile message today saying that I was accusing him of lying etc. I've not returned his call.

Any attorneys out there? He has threatened to send the car back. I gather he wants the money he paid in return. This was a totally private sale with no warranty or money back guarantee.

    Thoughts? Advice?

    Thanks.

    Buyers remorse

Joe, I would not consider taking the car back. 1300 original miles? What could be 'inconsistent'? He should've paid for a PPI...

I'd call his bluff and say send it back - I'll bet he doesn't

"Caveat Emptor". You had a contract, stated price and disclosure of defects accounted for. It was up to him to conduct whatever investigation he deemed appropriate before the sale was finalized. (I'm not a lawyer but this is the rule laid out to me in the past by someone I trust very much).

While I'm sure that there have been sales where the seller took advantage of the buyer I think this is a case of buyers remorse. You would be surprised how much that happens. In the "new world order" people are not responsible for their actions. It's somone elses fault if they make a bad decision.

Then again, there are those out there that wouldn't be happy if you hung them with a new rope.

Thanks for your opinions guys. Great last line Tom!

In fairness to the buyer, I should have mentioned that this is the third car he has bought from me. We seem to have resolved our problems. I assume he must have been told that he would not have a legal leg to stand on. I have been told that he purchased a car from Road Scholars and sent it back! Ironically, he had me inspect two cars here in St Louis that he was considering back in January.

    Thanks again for your input.

    Joe,
If guy bought car w/o inspection, it's his.
