Brake Fluid Reservoir Always Has Overflow

Even with a tight cap on the brake fluid reservoir, after a few hour drive, the overflow area always contains fluid. Is this to be expected?

check that the rubber seal inside the cap is still there. If it is not there the fluid will leak into the overflow area around the cap no matter how tight it is.

If the seal is there the area should remain dry.

If you find it has been leaking because it has not sealed properly it would be wise to do a changeover of brake fluid as it is more likely to have picked up moisture out of the air, lowering the boiling point and reducing its effectiveness

the rbber seals in the cap are easy to replace but I dont know the part number off hand

    Hugh,

Thank you for the long distance response. I will check for the rubber seal, and regardless, change the fluid.

    All the best,
