    911R struts and calipers

I've been lurking on the site and can't seem to find my answer.

What strut and caliper combination did the 911R come with?

    Thanks,

I think the calipers were the 906 variety?

    911R Front Calipers

I believe the calipers were 901.351.043/4.20 variety. These would have bolted up to the 911S Koni front struts from the period. I think the front suspensions were the "combination" old control arm with new T-bar fittings that was common on the 1968 cars. These would include the "itty-bitty" ball joints and preclude the bigger front calipers that came with the '69 and later iterations of the front suspension.

There are those who know better who can correct my errors.

I think the R used calipers from the 908.

The Calipers on the Lt. Are defiantly 908, (914/6 GT, 911ST) the ones on Rt. seem to be regular 911S fronts. I don’t think the Alloy “S” caliper will bolt on to the early short wheel base control arm? Also, using calipers with large pistons front & rear will most likely produce a soft brake pedal, not to mention upsetting the front/rear brake bias. Or is there some type of adaptor, larger Master cyl. And brake proportioning valve that was also used? I am also curious what the holes are for on the body of the calipers that faces the wheel; I have never seen those before. Any idea’s?
