    1971 S F/R Sway Bar Size???

What is the factory size for the front and rear sway bars on my 71 S Targa? I need to order bushing sets and need to get the proper size...

    Thanks,
    Sam

You are always best to measure sway bars to make sure you get the correct sizes, but they should be 16mm at the rear and 16m at the front. Having said that I have found some cars with 15mm front bars.

Mike's right... you should always measure'm to make sure

Use calipers for the rear (the diameter is consistent through the whole bar) ... And the fronts were usually stamped with the size on the face of the end (square) which you can see as it comes through the parallel that connects to the drop link...

I would bet on 15 front and rear...

    Hope this helps,
    Cheers,

My current 70S and my old 71S both had 15mm front and rear.

If you don't have a caliper just use an open end wrench to determine the size of your anti-sway bars. Try a 15MM. If it fits, fine. If not try a 16MM. A few trial and errors will give you the size you have.

Also...if you have the bars off the car, check both ends. One end has the size stamped on it. Usually a little wire brushing will reveal the stamped number.
