Its been pointed out to me that I have been out of touch with the latest in the Washington area...Then I remembered Chuck's post...

A neighbor one street down from me had an enormous Douglas Fir uproot, smash his deck and ended up leaning on the side of his house. Nobody was hurt. The upside was a large improvement of our view to the East! The first photo is of the gap created by the tree, it also gives you an idea of how big the thing was. The second is of the five axle crane that showed up and lifted it out in sections.
The power outages were only inconvenient. Unfortunately most of the deaths could have been easily avoided.

Chuck and Ray, thanks for thinking of us.
I believe there are still a few PacWest guys without power, but we are all safe and well.
It's times like these when you realize how important friendship is and how closely it is tied to your R Gruppe buddies.

Since we are sharing, for those who don't know, I've been in the process of buying a new house. We were supposed to close Thursday, but the inspection left some things undone, so we decided to delay. Good thing, as this happened Thursday NIGHT:

No worries, we are still buying it, as far as we can tell. It will just take a while longer. Thanks for the kind words; we were amazed what our house in Magnolia could buy us in the boonies.
