    Weatherstrip Advice

I just got my RS glass front bumper repainted and I'm ready to reinstall it. I'm curious as to how the heck ya install the rubber moulding that runs from the wheel to the trunk lid on each side. Do ya just glue it to the bumper and hope for the best? I noticed the moulding has a lip on it but I'll be darned if I can find a lip that it will fit correctly to. Any suggestions is appreciated. What did the factory do?

Are you talking about the rubber strip that goes between the bumper and body all the way around?

If so, new ones have a peel off adhesive strip on the top that is supposed to hold it to the body. It doesnt. I clean the surface really well, put some automotive Goop (brand name) in the groove and masking tape it in place while you position the bumper. It works pretty weel and the Goop is basically rubber cement that comes off easily next time.

Paul, do ya glue it to the glass bumper or the steel underworkings of the fenders? Yes, that's the rubber I'm referring to. I have good used ones to work with.

If you look on the bottom of the fender you will see a flange that fits into a groove on the seal. I put the silicon on the flange and tape it in place on the body. When you put the bumper back on, it smashes the seal tight to the body.

I go check that out. I coulda swore I couldn't feel a good flange underneath the steel fenders in that area, but will check that again. Thanks for the advice.

    Paul,

It looks like I'm in the same boat with my front bumper seal.... how did you finally install it?

From the replies above, I've managed to figure out most of it, but it just does not look right in the center between the two fenders - the hood area. The gasket does not seem to flow and there is a gap in the center of the gasket for something ??? I don't know what... I'm running an RSR type bumper.

Anyone have some more details about this installation? or pictures?

    Thank you.

Here are some pics of the issue I'm having... Notice the bend on the weatherstrip. Is this normal? Am I installing it correctly?
