    ignition switch and seatbelt issue

I have a couple of small things going on with my 72 that have bugged me long enough.

First, my ignition switch has an issue. When I start the car (which is never an issue) I don’t have any power to the radio or headlights (maybe some other stuff too). But if I rotate the key counterclockwise just a few degrees everything works fine. My hope is that the ignition switch just needs a good cleaning. Anybody ever taken their switch apart and put it back together?

Second, the retractors (both sides) for the front seat belts are way too sensitive. To pull the seatbelts out of the retractors I have to pull very very slowly or the mechanism grabs and wont let the belt free until I stop pulling, then I can try again. Is this common? What is the fix?

    Thanks,
    Steve

    Steve,
Ignition switch contacts could be dirty or iffy. Although I'm not sure how to access the electrical contact portion of the switch, if you can get to it, clean thoroughly without adding dirt-attracting oil/grease.

The seat belt retractors could be worn. Also try re-orienting the housings. If they're not level, they can be more sensitive and lock prematurely.
