Need "Tobacco" carpet match for '72/73 911

Despite extensive searching, I have not been able to locate a matching carpet color (let alone texture). The nearest is a Rolls Royce wool material called "Saffron."

I would prefer a close match, tending darker. I think I've looked at every commonly available European carpet source.

Has anyone found a decent match? I have a couple sources for making the kit, I just need a raw material source.

    Thanks!

Thanks, but the site has no Tobacco color matching materials that I can find.

I need to find some raw material sources for automotive carpeting.

If you find a source I am also interested. I have a tan interior with the "brown" carpet which is completely worn out- I have been told by various sources (including Tony at Autobahn and people here in Australia and in the UK) that the carpet in question is not available.
I cant believe that something similar cannot be found and turned into a carpet kit - surely there is demand out there

Nick the colour of the carpet you have posted looks close - is that a custom job?

Agreed, Nick's image looks close -- maybe on the yellow side. I found the Rolls Royce 'Saffron' color to be similar, but heartbreakingly expensive.

I got my carpet supplier to match a sample out of a 72S that I restored. Here is a better picture. I can get samples and send them if you wish.

Nick, the carpet edging appears to match the Tobacco color, while the carpet is more cocoa-colored, moreso in the second photo than the first.

I'd love to get a sample, but wonder about the economies of bringing a full 12-14 yards (doing 2 cars!) of carpet over the pond...

    Nick
that colour and texture looks pretty close to what i was expecting (although if i change monitors on the PC I might get a different impression )

However as Eminence Gris says it is a bit "browner" than what i was expecting - I thought it had a slightly more "tan" colour but that might be sunfade, the colour properties of the pictures I have seen of brown interiors, or more likely, the direction the photo was taken in relative to the carpet pile. I have a piece cut from under the dash of my car that I keep by the PC to check against and notice that it is significantly darker if looked at in one direction compared to another - the same effect as a persian rug

Did you get the carpet supplier to make up the full set? or did you have someone else / you do it from material provided?

What are the economics of making a kit and only shipping the pieces?
would your guy do that? say for a RHD 73 coupe so it could then be shipped to australia

If Eminence Gris want 2 LHD ones and I want a RHD set (and i am sure there might be a couple more) it might become economic even with the shipping?

I can get carpets made for left and right hand drive. Price is £500 plus shipping. If you let me have your address I can post a sample of the carpet. The carpet trim can be varied if you wish. Dimpled backing to the floor mats is the correct type.
