    New tire, and clean wheels

    Friends-
I am ready to buy new tires for my car. I am running flat 6's on the front and 7's in back, and I like the staggered look. Tire choices are limited as we all know, and right now i think I'm going with Bridgestone Potenza RE960's. 205/60's/front, and 215/60's/rear. Sound OK?

I am wondering what to use when I take the wheels off to clean the rear, inside surfaces of the wheels. I want to clean the God only knows how many years of brake dust and mung before fitting the new shoes.

Chime in with any other tire thoughts as well. I appreciate the help.

    Nick-

I use a citrus cleaner and a stiff brush on the inside of the wheels to get the brake dust off, but depending on the pads that have been used, you can find some really hard deposits that might need to be scraped a bit to remove. Some types of pad dust mixed with water seems to form little lumps that can resemble concrete!

Don't let the cleaning fluid sit full strength on the outside of the anodized rim, keep plenty of water flowing and rinse the wheels well. Some cleaners can leave a whitish streaking on anodized surfaces.

I then use 3M adhesive remover to get the glue-on wheel weight residue off.
