    Engine Number Lookup Please

    I'm wondering what this engine is..

    it's in a 72 wrecked tub.. thanks,

    6=6-cilinder
    1=911T
    2 = model '72
    9079 = builtnumber for a sporto version (9)

    So it is from a 911T (140ps) US version with Sporto transmission.
    Does that sound OK?

    I'll have to get further under the car and see a sporto is still there..

    Sporto question...

    I looked at the pictures I have of the car, it does have a clutch in the pedal cluster, so I don't remember if the sporto's had a clutch or not... Help??

    Sportomatics had no clutch pedal....so your car likely has a 915 five-speed. Many people converted their sportos to the 915 5-speed...fairly easy to do and you can use the same engine.

    It looks like a E motor try this website it works sometimes for 911 engines and chasis numbers.

    Should be a 911/61 type motor, USA 2.4 T w/ sporto.
