    Help with engine vacum/fuel/oil lines

I am in the process of changing all the fuel lines and clamps with new correct lines and clamps. (1971 911T)

    Picture 1:

The red arrow, what should be connected to this pipe, and where is it supposed to go? There is a line that goes from the carbs on one side of the engine to the other, connects to bent pipes on both sides, I have marked it in green.

    Picture 2:

The red arrow shows where the thick pipe from the oil filler connects. But where are the green and yellow arrows supposed to go/be connected to?

    Thanks
    John

    John,

I can help with the second picture. The bottom fitting is to be connected to a short hose that connects to the "small oil overfill tube". It is attached to the rear engine tin and has a little rubber end on it. The second fitting opposite of the oil breather fitting, is an evaporative emission hose it should be connected to the charcoal canister in the front luggage compartment (assuming that the lines are the same as my E of course).

    Thanks Andrew!

I have removed the US emissions system and converted to Euro spec. so I guess I can block of that pipe on the air cleaner housing. Where exactly do I find the pipe in the engine tin that the bottom fitting on the house goes to?

Can some else help me with the first picture?

Just guessing but in the first pic, I think that goes to the vacuum advance. Some of these were "T" to the other carb as well. Usually the blow up pic is on the PET disc. If you don't have one I can research it for you.

Rick, I found this in the PET. Its a small "T" joint as you said, but I cant see how it is conected to the other carb. I think its no "T" on the other carb because I can only see one place it fits, and that is the bent pipe where it is attached today.

Can you please explain where the vakum advance is located and how it should be connected?

I haven't had zeniths but do have a couple of sets of webers. One set has the fittings on both carbs and the other set had them on the intakes.

The small hose is seen in upper center of the photo below. There is a photo of the actual tube in the PET.pdf; Look in under engines/air cleaners. The tube is attached to the exterior of the engine tin.

John, if you haven't already figured this out, the small red fitting in your first picture is the vacuum port, it is teed to the right carburetor bent vacuum port and to the same bent line vacuum port on the left carburetor. The vacuum hose just simply lays across the fan housing to get to the left carb. There is no vacuum advance or retard on these engines. All this is to supply vacuum to the diaphragms on each out board side of the carb. This was all a way of supplying extra air on over run to lean out the unburned fuel.

Edmayo, thanks, I figured out, like you say, that the portmarked with the red arrow, connects to the hose that goes from the bent pipe on the left side to bent pie on the right side.

The thing I can not figure out is where the yellow arrow pipe goes? I can not find any pipe on the engine tin for this to connect to. Could this airbox be for a later model?
