    1967 911S- few questions

    Hi,

I have just started the full restoration of a RHD 1967 911S vin nb 307885S.
Can anyone help with confirming the following?

    1) What was the original style wing mirror? Talbot or standard "small" Durant
    2) What style was the rear view mirror? Were they all the chrome 3 screw style
    3) What door catch did 67S have? The early "finger" style or the later larger catch
    4) Did all 67S have the square washer bottle, or did any use the later style with the neck that comes through the front slam panel.

    Any help/advice is much appreciated.

    With thanks

    Alan

    Hi Alan,

    I too own a '67 911S.

    1) What was the original style wing mirror? Talbot or standard "small" Durant

Small Durant was standard, but Talbot was available as an option.

    2) What style was the rear view mirror? Were they all the chrome 3 screw style?

    Yes.

    3) What door catch did 67S have? The early "finger" style or the later larger catch.

All '67s had the small finger style door latch.

    4) Did all 67S have the square washer bottle, or did any use the later style with the neck that comes through the front slam panel.

Mine has the square washer bottle as I believe all of them did.

Best of luck on your restoration!

My 67S is chrome front and back. The only plastic is the small day/night flapper @ the bottom. Kardex build date 11/24/66 #306866

The later durant mirror is not the same as the 67S durant.

The interior mirror def. has a black back and not chrome.

Alan, if you would like a pic of the washer bottle advise and I will send you one. Mark S. Interesting on the RV mirror, mine is all chrome. I saw pics from the original owner of the car when he took delivery and it was chrome back side. I have seen a few(two) other 67s cars over the years also with all chrome mirrors one of which was @ a parade concours. It's possible Porsche ran out of black backs and substituted all chrome until they secured more black. Bill, Mike? Anyone else with a 67 all chrome? Damn, my mirror was the only thing that did not need rechrome!

Mine is definitely all chrome. It is a US spec car, and I have pictures from 1967 showing the chrome mirror!

I would assume that there was carryover from the 1966 911 with the chrome mirrors.

The 67 911S dealer literature shows a chrome mirror, so undoubtedly the first cars came that way.

All of my 67S's have had black backed mirrors, but none have been early cars.
