    MFI Thermostat

    Just wondering if anyone has had this problem. The MFI thermostat (73 S) has a support shaft that holds the many washers in place. At the end of this shaft is a clip that keeps them all in place. This clip is falling out. It's now been replaced with a new clip but I've been told that this is a weak point and I might need to buy a new thermostat $$$. Has anyone fixed this problem? The rest of the pump has been rebuilt and works fine.

    Philip, I have rebuilt many thermostats and have not come across that problem yet. Do you have the right clip? Photo below shows the correct clip.

    That's interesting Phillip, been working with MFI since it came out in 69, and I've seen ONE clip fall off (goes real rich don't it!!) so in my experience I sure wouldn't call that a weak point. Now that you have the new one on hopefully your troubles are over.

    In over 30 years I've never had that problem. I don't think it is a weak point. Something must be wrong.
