    rear seat pan differences

I am just looking for clarification in sheet metal dimensions. I think the rear seat pan segments were narrowed (wider tunnel) in 1972 for the change to a 915 transmission. This also corresponds to the change in sheet metal stampings on the rear deck.

The question involves obtaining sheet metal cuts from a 74 for replacement onto a SWB car. I am thinking they will not fit. obviously they can be made to fit but that might be more difficult than installing the correct parts.

    Can someone confirm? Thanks.

I have a 68 912 SWB. I just received newly pressed seat pans, which are not on the market yet and can tell you they do not fit my car. I am not sure what they were intended to fit as I have not talked to the seller/manufacturer yet. I can tell you they are about two inches too narrow. As you mention, they can be made to fit, but they are definitely not the same as my SWB car.

    Hi,

You are right the change in 72 means it is not a direct fit, ie removing the rear pans and bulk head from 72- car will not fit directly into a pre -72 car. Granted it can be made to fit but it not a direct fit.

We have done this for a customer, but the other way round- ie a SWB rear pans and rear bulk head in the LWB 72- shell.

    eg:

Pans taken out of a 72 shell

SWB ones then in the car

    and after e-coat

    I hope this helps
