What are these hoses for? (73 911T)

When I pulled the motor out of my car I found these two hoses that were tucked up and out of the way. Not connected to anything. So naturally, I have no idea what they are for or where they go.

Does someone have a clue what these hoses are used for?

As the red arrow shows they are attached to lines that are coming out of the drivers-side of the firewall. And they are certainly long enough to go just about anywhere.

Tom, those are the circulation hoses for the charcoal cannister. One goes to a tube coming off the left side of the fan housing (roughly behind the alternator) and blows air forward to the cannister, and then the other hose goes to the back of the aircleaner so that all the nasty gas fumes from the gas tank get drawn into the engine.

You forgot to mention that they will rot and break in the tunnel thus filling the passenger compartment with fumes.

Air goes in and out, blood goes round and round, any variation of this is a bad thing.

That shouldn't happen, they are steel tubes in the tunnel.

    my bad...

of course, if my wife even rode in that car they would split, the tranny would eat itself and the engine die. The woman is cursed...

She admits it. Heck, 2 weeks ago I found that she did not change the air filter on the Saturn for too long (nasty!). I put a new one in and the car started idling weird and stalling. Her first comment was she had cursed it.
