    G50 in a 73

well, at least the feel of one. Just put in an 86 shift tower (I think it may have a factory short shift in it, bought used on Classifieds) and a new brass bushing shift coupler. Coupler has very free "loose" movement but absolutely no slop or play.

Shifting has gone from long, vague throws, though easy enough with 2 fingers, to precise snick-snick gear changes.

Some have commented on the possibility of a tight coupler decreasing transmission life. While in gear, there is easy movement of the shifter. I opted to keep the slightly worn cup bushing on it. Have 3 minor adjustments in the coupler to make it perfect.

    Hey Shaun,
So you really do see an improvement with a later shifter, eh? I'll have to keep this upgrade in mind. And maybe I'll stop by this weekend so you can show me how to adjust my coupler.

BTW, I got my car back from the alignment shop today and now it handles like it supposed to

Tim, the 86 is a two-year only shifter with shorter throws than previous years which were shorter throw than our 73s, but I think the shifter I bought had a factory short shift installed in it...it's short and fast. The combo with the brass bushing coupler makes a big difference.

Would you like to join Janus and Chris and me on some fun this weekend, TBD? not sure what or when, but supposed to be doing something.

chain, sprockets, rivet tool are coming this week for the Ducati. Have a rear stand you can bring up?

glad to hear your car is driving better!

I just got off the phone with Chris and he's planning something for Saturday so I'm up for it.

I do have a stand and I'll bring it with me, I just hope it will fit in my car

    I'll see you Saturday,
