OEM horns as extra front-end weight?

I just removed a set of original horns from a 65 911 project -- they must weigh about 5 lbs each! Were the selected this heavy by Porsche to add some extra front end weight -- maybe in addition to or before they added lead weights?

Possibly, but the "lead" weights were iron.
