ID odd sensors(?) on trunk bulkhead

Rooting around in the trunk earlier this morning, I lifted up the carpet at the front bulkhead to examine the washer tank and motor. I don't know why I never noticed these before but there are two small cylinders up against the bulkhead, held in place by clips that are in turn held in place by sheetmetal screws through the bulkhead (!!!). Each cylinder has two wires coming from the bottom which are wired into the overall loom near the fuse panel.

Any clue as to what they are? My first guess is shock sensors for an aftermarket alarm system, vestiges of which are still in place about the car.

Apologies for the crappy phone camera pics and the tatty condition of the trunk area generally.

Just a guess, but I think you're right, mercury switches for the alarm system.
