    Holbert's no more

    Apropos of nothing...

I just got a call from a friend who lives nearby who, driving past Holbert's Porsche/Audi/VW in Warrington, PA earlier today, noted that the Holbert's signage is now covered by Thompson signage. The Thompson Organization's purchase of Holbert's came about a year ago and some people wondered whether the Holbert's name would remain. Now I guess we know it won't.

I won't weigh in on good, bad or indifferent opnions on the dealership itself, but it's just a little sad that the visual reminder of a family name so closely associated with Porsche racing success will be gone.

This is true. Just finished a piece on the Blackhawk RSR and Holbert's name came up on every page of the research.

Put him on the blog not long ago with that Land Speed Record Porsche 928.
