Talking two pictures from 1974 Road & Track: Identical Porsche RSR Racers

I was fumbling through a box of old car magazines at a local flea market this weekend, and came across this issue of Road & Track from February 1974. Inside, is an article about Roger Penske's "International Race of Champions"...After an introductory sentence or two, the article reads.... "Penske's business skill, his connections at Porsche and ABC television and his ability to entice and cajole reluctant drivers resulted in the International Race of Champions, a dream meeting of a dozen of the finest racing drivers in the world in a four-race series to determine a true international champion."...Emerson Fittipaldi, Jackie Stewart, Denis Hulme, Richard Petty, Bobby Allison, David Pearson, Bobby Unser, A.J. Foyt, Mario Andretti, George Fullmer, Peter Revson, and Mark Donahue..."The cars would be identical Porsche Carrera RSRs, prepared by the Porsche factory to within a one-percent variation.".... the entire article is very cool, and there is something about reading it as it was published, in a magazine from 1974... Here are the two photos of the colorful RSRs.. I can see that all four cars in the 2nd photo only have 3 wheels contacting the ground... just thought I'd share.

    Thumbs up

    Dave,

Both pics are, of course, taken at Riverside Raceway... The second pic is of Riverside's infamous Turn #6.

With the technology of the day, if it had doors, it would pretty much lift a wheel in turn #6 ..........

    Thanks for the memories......

    Cheers

Great pictures! Look at the front wheel lift!
Looks like they already had to replace the front bumper on #2? (second pic.)

Curious, #2 is definitely Blue in the second picture...but #2 in the first picture looks to be light blue?
Did #8 (1st pic), get switched to #2 (2nd pic)?
    Hope that's somewhat understandable...
