Inner wheel arches colour or not?

Hi guys (and ladies), I have a 1970 911T currently undergoing restoration and wanted to ask if anyone knew whether it was correct to spray colour inside the wheel arches or keep them black. My bodywork guy is doing a fantastic job and is currently scrapping off the shutz from the inner wings and has asked if i would like them painted car colour (silver) or black. I would prefer to keep the car as original as possible but have seen this painted and it looks great. Anyone know what is correct or what looks best? Thanks

If it was a Karmann built car I think the answer is black.

Yes, it is black, but the car was painted after undercoat, so color overspray is on the undercoat, then they went back and hand brushed that black. No time on a production line to mask and spray, brushing can be done without masking.
