Sherwin Williams Paint Code for Gemini Blue, 73S

Has anyone had any luck getting Gemini Blue mixed at Sherwin Williams?

I'm struggling with the same thing.

My painter has opened it up to DuPont as well as Sherwin Williams. So far, they are not happy with any mixes. There are quite a few older formulas available on the web, but reformulation is constant with the paint companies. I'm open to water based as well as low-VOC. But I need a formula!

Why not use Glasurit? The metal flake is the proper size and the paint is fantastic. This is for Gemini Blue Metallic, right?

I'm beginning to think that's going to be the best option.

It's on my 72S and it's fantastic. I wouldn't do anything else for a 73S. The old school painter said the new water based Glasurit was the best paint he ever sprayed! In the big picture of a restoration it's an area I wouldn't compromise. The metal flake is other paints doesn't look right. It's too large. It's 4 times to cost but nothing matters more than body and paint, right?

Yeah, not willing to have a painter use a paint he is not familiar with on this job. Looks like they calculated a DuPont formula they'll be spraying out for me.

Painters know how to spray. My guys thought the same until they used it. Just saying. A lot of painters don't want to use because of the cost. I bought the paint and told them to use it. They loved it. The Glasurit clear coat is the best also. If I was buying a car that had it originally I want it in the restoration.

I gave up with the false starts on other formulas and just got the Glasurit. Will be eager to see the final result.

Any follow up on this? Did they end up using the water based Glasurit?

Old thead.... yes.... but I just saw it due to the bump, and thought I'd respond.

As a particularly particular painter, Sherwin Williams is CRAP paint. I dealt exclusively with Spies Hecker for years until DuPont bought them and immmmmmmediately jacked up the prices......twice....I have since switched to PPG and have had nothing but spot on color matches.
( as good as Spies ) Yes, some codes have not been in the system and have taken some research to get the formulas ( which I am keeping copies of ) but once we get it, it is as close as you will get with todays pigments.

If you care about the quality and authenticity of your car, pay for the good stuff.

Sherwin Williams, Sikkens, Dupont, Nason, Akzo Nobel, Limco etc. t'aint it

buy : Spies Hecker / Standox ( same company, same paint, same etc. ) , PPG or Glasurit and never look back
